Last night, baby baboy and I watched the movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, despite our busy schedules because I’m afraid it’ll be replaced soon in cinemas since there’s only one cinema left for the movie. I'm even determined to watch it alone since baby baboy was still on the way and we won’t make it if I have to wait for a little longer (although it would start a fight HAHAHA). Good thing we made it on time.
I was overwhelmed watching the movie that I cried a little because Queen is one of my favorite bands together with ABBA and The Beatles (I hope they’ll make a biopic of those bands as well). I grew up listening to their music since my father is one of their avid fans but lo and behold, I also become one of them. What I love about their music aside from the beats and the rhythms which brings me back to the past where I’m just innocent and fragile (unlike today as of writing HAHAHA!) is that they’re like telling a story behind each lyric. Although it’s kind of vague you’ll get the point.
What I like about the movie was it doesn’t just revolve on the life story of Freddie, which is obviously the most popular among the group 99% of the time. It’s more on like how the band was made and how they gave birth to each of their songs although they have to make sacrifices and even had a conflict of interest in between. Freddie, on the other hand, portrayed how power and fame can change someone and how is it not too late to take back what was lost. I know it’s just a movie, they may have exaggerated it and maybe some are just made up stories but duh! You get the thought.
My favorite part of the movie were the scenes when they performed some of the Queen’s records. I was there singing quietly but in my mind, I was headbanging and dancing and stomping and clapping that I want to scream on the top of my lungs together with the crowd when they cheered for the band. EEEEEEEEEEEYO! If only goosebumps can make someone explode, I’d be all over the cinema.
I am happy to know a portion of the Queen’s story apart from playing it repeatedly, learning the lyrics, and bravely sing it on the karaoke. Of course, it’ll take a lot of beer to fill up my belly before I could bring out my other self who is so talented I get ashamed when someone reminds me of what I just did last night. Ugh!
