TRENDING TOPIC (kuno)

As an active participant of some online organizations or shall I call myself a “netizen” I can almost be aware of what’s happening to every corner of the world, but I’d prefer to stay connected to topics that greatly concerns my country, the Philippines. Everyday there are new articles to discuss with and reading the commentaries can sometimes nurture my mind with new ideas or improves my views on the certain matter, though it’s inevitable to read comments that are off-topic, copy-paste, and/or re-posted.

Take the #aldub and their #kalyeserye for instance and the #pastillasgirl and her search for #mrpastillas now labeled as #twitterserye.

Well, I just broke out my silence on the “trending topic” (“TRENDING TOPIC” repeated, uppercased, and boldfaced) in which a huge number of netizens is more concerned than the current affairs of the nation. Let’s admit it, once an article has been published relating to their “online love story” netizens tend to defend them as if they’re closely related with their bloodline not even reading a single sentence of the said article. It’s a moot point, it’s part of their automatic reflex, it’s what they take after every meal three times a day, it’s the only thought running on their heads thinking what are the “kilig moments” that are yet to happen. Worst is, it’s the only topic they can share with for the entire day.

I have nothing against those individuals who plays the role of #aldub, #pastillasgirl, and soon to be #mrpastillas but I loathe the madness of “SOME” of their fans who lingers in an illusion of grandeur by opposing “SOME” lunatic bashers. These fanatics can effortlessly blabber without putting on their thinking cap, perhaps they don’t have one, but things just got real when you bump into one of them in the physical world while you are mentally perceptive.

What I mean is, incoherent comments are different when you simply hate it; you hate it because you have your own valid reasons rather than conforming to the crowd, you hate it because you simply don’t like it rather than your organization despise it, and you hate it because you somehow lose your respect on that individual rather than turning a blind eye.

It’s easy for us, netizens, to disgust people, to make fun of anyone, to make a fake personality, to pretend that we know everything, for that “WELCOME TO THE INTERNET”  but we really don’t know the personalities behind those love teams, they’re just celebrities at all, let’s be mindful what they do for the living. Therefore, to my friends and to whom it may concern, refrain from meaningless reactions, it’s the least human thing we can do over the internet.
