Crazy Rides at Gensan

Michelle: Dili ko kahinga! Dili ko kahinga! Please hununga na! Please! Please! (I can’t breath! I can’t breath! Please stop it! Please! Please!)
Me: Piyonga imong mata!!! (Close your eyes!)
Michelle: Dili jud makaya, mura nakog mamatay! (I can’t take it anymore, I feel like I’m dying!)
–my cousin while dyingly pleaded to stop the crazy mouse coaster
The other day, I went to Gensan to partake their celebration of the #TunaFestival but I was a week early before the actual event and I won’t be staying there for long since I have responsibilities back home. Luckily, there’s a Carnival nearby, the same carnival I’ve been during the “Araw ng Davao” and surely I’ve ridden all the rides except for one, the crazy mouse coaster. Seeing as an opportunity I dare myself to take a ride on it along with my cousins who happened to be all girls (I expect the screaming and all the drama a girl could ever be).

Crazy Mouse Coaster: like a roller coaster, just shorter.

While we’re waiting for our turn we saw people who were screaming in horror, their faces were like they’ve seen death, and after each ride some of them seems to be enfeebled that they can’t stand right after their turn and some may run along to the side of the rails and… My cousin, Michelle, begged to cancel off the ride but I told her we’d just wasted our tickets if we don’t which my other two cousins both agree. And so it was our turn, I seated at the front row of the front car, the stainless handles are greasy, the floor just got corroded that I can see the ground through it, the seat belts upon testing just got loosen up. I was scared. So much. Very much. Then it started rolling, feeling relaxed, come on! It’s a just a ride. I was thinking the carnival owner wouldn’t let any accidents to happen, thus, they may have checked every rides to keep everyone safe. Later on as it speeded up, I was like WTF! WTF! WTF! (sorry for swearing) damn it! I thought I’m gonna flew out of my seat, my vision is fading to black, I can’t hold on tight to the handles because it’s too greasy, then my cousin at the back started freaking out and I was worried she’d lose her consciousness. HOLY COW! However, we surpassed the ride but I swear I’ll never gonna ride a roller coaster ever again! NEVER!!!

Sea Dragon: the swinging ship.

After a while, after we’re done realizing how terrible that crazy mouse coaster was like, I took them to the “sea dragon”, a swinging ship. Having an experience of what was it like, I lied to them by saying “it’s just like a swing, except that it’s bigger” they also see it as not as terrible like the previous ride. Just swinging, right? I told them we’d be seating at the end (because the effect is more intensifying). At the first few swings they seem to enjoy it since the gust of wind to every swing was kinda refreshing but not until it gets higher and higher. They started screaming “AHHHHHHHHHHHH” and I was just laughing at them while taking a video but later on I felt like I’d drop myself on the ground and my knees are shaking, then I stop recording and made a quick grip on the safety handle. Though I’ve been to that ride before, I never thought I’d still freak out.

Wall of Death: the death defying motor stunt.

I asked them if they want to try the Ferris Wheel or the Horror Train or the Disco Tagada (disco tagada is great especially if there’s a lot of people on it) but the looks on their faces suggests that it’s a big NO. Then we just walk around the carnival, bought some drinks, and looking for another fun to engage. While walking I saw the wall of death, that death defying motor stunt. I still remember when I first saw their stunt I was frozen in shock. They don’t have any idea what the motorist will do inside (approximately) 30ft tall circular wall. The stuntman came in, the show is about to start. As the first stuntman ride on his motorcycle circling around on the ground, they thought it’s just a boring show, after a few minutes the second stunt man went in and ride on his motorcycle doing the same thing as the first stuntman did, just circling around. Soon after the second stuntman climb on the wall (with the motorcycle of course) followed by the first then both drive in free hands! One my cousins looked away. When the show is about to end the second stuntman completely turned off the engine at the top and everyone was on shock, including me.

I had so much fun that night! But you see, I’ve been to the middle of the sea while the boat engine just got crashed with gigantic waves hitting on us, I’ve been to the roof top of our seven storey university building when I accidentally throw my classmate’s phone while we’re at the sky gym, I’ve run away from the person who’s so high (in drugs) he wanted to kill us, and other horrible events. But these rides really made me jump out of my skin.
