LUCKY CHARMS ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH COMMUNION WITH GOD

Naa tay "pagtuo" dili unta masagulan ug "tuo-tuo" aron dili ta mahimong "uto-uto."
To my fellow Catholics, it's going to be 2024 in the next few hours, just a gentle reminder that we should refrain from embracing "lucky charms" like the longstanding Chinese tradition of using "round objects" as we embark on the New Year.

While the saying "Walay mawala kung imong tuohan" might justify this practice, consider this: If you were God, possessing everything, merciful, generous, loving, dispenser of grace, and orchestrating perfect plans, would a hint of doubt about your actions will make you happy?

CCC #2113 Idolatry not only refers to false pagan worship. It remains a constant temptation to faith. Idolatry consists in divinizing what is not God. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc. Jesus says, "You cannot serve God and mammon." Many martyrs died for not adoring "the Beast" refusing even to simulate such worship. Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.

Our Church has been bombarded with lots of controversies and attacks from other sects and some individuals, let's not be the reason to fuel their naively ignorance all because we are, in first place, naively ignorant.

As the Word of God continues to guide us in this journey called life, we should've realized by now that richness isn't solely about our material possessions but about the significance of our actions during our lifetime.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6
